Together with her friends she stayed for about one month in a country town where she did agricultural work. Miriam returned to Budapest in order to join the Relief and Rescue Committee train but arrived too late. She took part in the underground operations. With help from the movement she succeeded in crossing the border into Romania. In November 1944 Miriam made aliya and joined an Aliyat Hanoar group in Kfar Rupin.
